Privacy Browser PC 0.6.2

Privacy Browser 0.6.2 was released on 30 September 2024. The impetus for this release was an attempt to fix a bug in the packages in the official Ubuntu repository, which appear to be caused by a mismatch in PIE (position-independent executable) and PIC (position-independent code) compiler flags. This problem didn’t affect packages in the official Debian repositories, nor in the packages available on this website. Although I hope this change fixes the problem, we won’t really know until 0.6.2 gets built by Ubuntu.

There are new entries in the window menu to open the current website in a different browser and in the context menu to open the selected link in a different browser. The entries are only displayed if the other browsers are installed. Currently, Privacy Browser checks for Firefox and Chromium. Please let me know if other browsers are desired (I didn’t include any of the other Qt WebEngine browsers as they aren’t likely to render the website significantly differently than Privacy Browser).

Similar to the changes in 0.6.1, the Requests Dialog has been redesigned so it is scrollable, which resolves problems on monitors with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to make a dialog scrollable in Qt.
